Second mobility C2 in Slovenia

Last week (from 7th to 11th March 2022) the Mobility of teachers from partner schools of Erasmus+ project Lifelong skills was held in Primary School Bistrica ob Sotli. Our school hosted teachers from Spain, Italy and Croatia.

Besides getting to know local cultural and natural heritage, cuisine and history of the region our guests participated in several workshops, where they practiced developing some of the lifelong skills that we also developed with our students during the project.

Firstly, we learned how to make the “White Carniolan Easter eggs”. Traditionally, White Carniolan Easter egg is made of beeswax and red and black colour. Applying beeswax to the egg using a special tool called “pisač” and then soaking the egg in different colours makes it possible for us to make beautiful patterns. We made interesting Easter eggs using this technique.

We also learned how to make a red carnation, the national flower of Slovenia, out of crepe paper – we cut and folded paper into a shape of carnation and then made a bouquet of all the flowers.

Our cooks showed us how to bake walnut potica, a traditional Slovenian pastry, and also a carob potica.

Later, we made pillows filled with buckwheat, which we embroidered.

Our last workshop included an interesting presentation of different techniques of modeling the clay by Mr. Toplica Ignjatović and making interesting sculptures out of clay by ourselves.

During the project activities, a virtual lecture for teachers entitled “The impact of excessive use of ICT on the development of fine motor skills in children in lower grades of primary school” was organized, which was held on March 9, 2022. for 60 minutes.

On our last day together, we evaluated our week-long activities and planned further activities.
